We are taking a summer break from December 21 to January. You can still place orders now and while we are on break. If we we receive but don't finish testing your samples before Christmas they will be at the top of our list when we re-open in January. Samples that arrive during the break will be stored carefully for testing in January.

Thanks for all the testing you've sent us this year, and have a wonderful summer!

Order online

  1. Read about our tests or call us to decide what tests are appropriate for your animal.

  2. The order form is on every test page, so start by looking for one of the tests you are after.

  3. Fill in your details and your animals' details in the order form. You can get different tests for each animal if you want. You will be emailed an individualised sample ID sheet for every animal you are testing.

  4. Pay for your testing. We accept credit card payments via VISA and Mastercard, PayPal, bank transfers and cheques.

Take samples

Wash or use wipes to clean your hands before every animal!

Horses: pull a small clump of 20-40 hairs from the mane or tail of your horse or pony. DNA is in the hair roots, so make sure that the hairs have roots on them. The hair sample should be sent in a clean ziplock bag or paper envelope labeled with the sample ID for that animal.

Goats: Choose a clean, dry part of the animal that has coarse hairs (i.e. tail or chest) to pull out a small hair sample. Aim for 20-40 hair roots. DNA is in the hair roots, so make sure that the hairs have roots on them. The hair sample should be sent in a clean dry ziplock bag or paper envelope labeled with the sample ID for that animal.

Dogs: using a clean cotton-tip, collect skin cells from inside your dog's mouth. Gently rub the cotton tip on their gums and inside cheeks for at least 30 seconds. The swab should look grubby when you are done.

Repeat with the other end of the swab.

Dry the sample by leaving the cheek swab inside a clean paper envelope with the envelope propped open for at least a few hours. Don't use a ziplock bag because this will trap moisture. Label the envelope with the sample ID for that animal.
